Hi Sumner Lovin’ Riders!

We are only days away from the Sumner Lovin’ Memorial Bike Ride. As we get ready to celebrate Steve’s life, we wanted to make sure you have the latest information regarding the event.

Prior to the Event

To limit long lines on the day of the event, BIB pick up is available at the San Ramon Sports Basement (1041 Market Pl, San Ramon, CA 94583) from Monday, May 10th - Saturday, May 15th during regular store hours. BIBs will also be available on the day of the ride at check-in if you don’t make it to Sports Basement before the event.
For those of you that are interested in renting a bike, our title sponsor Sports Basement, provides bike rentals directly through their website: https://rentals.sportsbasement.com/rent/bikes Select their San Ramon location when checking out.

Event Day

Items to bring with you: sunscreen, water, hat, bike helmets, and camping chairs, so after the ride, you can relax, enjoy your lunch/ice cream, have a drink, and swap stories about Steve with one another.
The event takes place at 2700 Camino Ramon, San Ramon, CA 94583.
- Parking is onsite in the designated parking area. (See attached map.)

9:00: Advance Ride Begins

10:00: Cruiser Ride Begins

10:30: Kids Ride Begins

10:30am – 2:00pm: Post Ride Celebration with food truck lunch, ice cream, beverages

Note: All riders will have a "Staggered Start" 10 seconds apart and be 6 feet behind each other.

Please find the attached event map and route rides:
- For the Advanced Ride, we will have route cards for you and signage at each turn. A Refuel Area with snacks, water and restrooms is found at the 16-mile mark on Windermere Parkway.
- For the Cruiser Ride, we will have signage at each turn as well as volunteers helping to navigate the intersections.
- The Kids Ride is in the parking lot of the event.
The Advanced Ride and Cruiser Ride will be taking place on public streets, so please remember to follow all safety rules and laws while riding. Everyone’s safety is our first priority.

Due to the pandemic, we started registration a little later than planned and were not able to get the t-shirts and water bottles in time to hand out on ride day. We will be mailing t-shirts and water bottles to you approximately 4 weeks after the event. We will send you an email to confirm your shipping address before shipping.

We apologize in advance for any lag times between starts, but use this time to catch up with each other, swap stories about Steve, and check out the many pictures of Steve and his road bike that will be on display during the event. (Be sure to adhere to social distancing guidelines).

Remember, this is a fun and relaxing ride, not a race. Speed is not important; we are biking together in memory of Steve and his love of riding. Please take it all in and enjoy the ride!
