The Betty Petersen Conservation Fund advances the conservation of birds and their habitats across the Caribbean. To date, the Fund has supported thirteen impactful projects focused on threatened and endangered species, including the Black-capped Petrel in Haiti, Ridgway’s Hawk in the Dominican Republic, White-breasted Thrasher in Saint Lucia, Cuban Amazon and Cuban Parakeet in Cuba, and Trinidad Piping-Guan.

These projects engage and empower local communities and stakeholders to protect their birds and natural habitats while developing sustainable ways to benefit from their natural resources.

From reducing illegal trapping in Cuba to safeguarding critical habitats across the region, the Fund’s grantees are making a meaningful difference—made possible through the generosity of donors who believe in the future of Caribbean birds and the people who protect them.
