Manhattan Together (MT) is a power organization of citizens and aspiring citizens, composed of dues-paying congregations and community-based groups across Manhattan. We are broad-based, multifaith, multiracial, nonpartisan, and grassroots. Our mission is to organize people within our member institutions to participate in public decision-making, improve conditions in their communities, and strengthen the institutions to which they belong.

We work with people who want to transform the world—from what it is to what they believe it should be. We challenge members to imagine the change they can accomplish, connect them with others to amplify collective power, and mobilize people by the thousands to make their voices heard. We set bold goals, craft effective strategies, and confront entrenched interests when they stand in the way. Political and corporate leaders rarely embrace change without pressure from the communities they serve. Our leaders understand their capacity to join forces and drive change at the neighborhood, city, and national levels.

Since our re-founding in 2007, MT has secured major victories in education, pedestrian safety, public housing, neighborhood safety, and other issue areas. We continue to take on pressing local and citywide challenges. One of our greatest achievements has been identifying and developing scores of new leaders who now play more active roles in their congregations, communities, and the organization as a whole.

MT is part of the Industrial Areas Foundation, the nation’s first and largest network of multifaith community organizations, with more than seven decades of experience winning hard-fought campaigns across the country.
