Bringing Writers to Local Schools

UPDATE: Fall for the Book Friend and retired school librarian Paulette Miller and her husband Mack Miller have generously pledged to match up to $2,000 in donations to help send writers to schools. This giving challenge will fund one more writer visit to a school. You can double your impact by giving today.

Paulette made this pledge in honor of all of the outstanding school librarians she has known. Make a donation today in honor of school librarians and nurturing our youngest readers.

One of our proudest achievements this October was reaching over 1,200 K-12 students by bringing in three authors to local schools talk about topics ranging from fantastic flora, to learning to draw manga, to a teen navigating life after an ICE raid. We worked with the schools to create meaningful, immersive activities to connect the featured books with their current school work. For many of these children and teens, it was their first time seeing an author speak in person. To continue to bring these fun, educational, and free programs to the schools, we need your help.

With cuts in government funding for the arts and the loss of 10% of our own budget, we have faced programming challenges. If we raise $2,000 by December 31st, we will be able to send another author into a local school again next year. A gift of any size helps make this program possible.

During this holiday season, we hope you will make a donation to Fall for the Book’s education outreach program today and help us bring more programs to local children.
