A2Empowerment General Campaign

A2Empowerment provides scholarships, mentorship, and support to young women who face barriers to education in Cameroon, such as poverty, gender discrimination, early marriage, and lack of resources. We believe that educating women is the most effective way to reduce poverty and improve health. By empowering women with knowledge and skills, we hope to create a ripple effect of positive change.

Recipients are chosen based on need and merit, with a priority placed on selecting girls in the later years of high school when they are at a higher risk of dropping out.

Since its founding in 2008, A2Empowerment has awarded over 2,300 educational scholarships to young women in Cameroon.

Approximately $80 USD covers tuition, fees and supplies for a year of school. A2Empowerment is an all-volunteer organization on the US side.  Individual donations made through A2Empowerment primarily support high school and university tuition, fees, and supplies for scholarship recipients, and provide the Girl Boss curriculum from Launch Girls for scholarship recipients that is administered at monthly mentoring meetings.  Additionally, donations support training and stipend payments for the female advisors working with us in Cameroon, several of whom are alumnae of our scholarship program. A2Empowerment programming in Cameroon is administed by WESAD.
