What Are PANS and PANDAS?
PANS and PANDAS are infection-associated neuroimmune psychiatric disorders in which the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy brain tissue. This leads to severe brain inflammation and debilitating physical and mental health challenges, robbing young people of their identity and well-being.
🔹 Triggers: Common infections like strep throat, COVID, and the flu.
🔹 Impact: Without treatment, these disorders can cause lifelong disability, loss of independence, and, in some cases, even death.
🔹 Hope: With early diagnosis and proper treatment, patients can recover and return to their baseline health.

In 2022, our family’s life changed forever. Our son was diagnosed with an infection-associated neuroimmune disorder. We’ve witnessed firsthand the devastating impact it can have, but also the hope that comes with proper care and treatment.

PANS y PANDAS son trastornos psiquiátricos neuroinmunes asociados a infecciones, en los cuales el sistema inmunológico ataca por error el tejido sano del cerebro. Esto provoca una grave inflamación cerebral y desafíos debilitantes tanto físicos como mentales, arrebatando a los jóvenes su identidad y bienestar.
🔹 Desencadenantes: Infecciones comunes como la faringitis estreptocócica, COVID y la gripe.
🔹 Impacto: Sin tratamiento, estos trastornos pueden causar discapacidad de por vida, pérdida de independencia e incluso, en algunos casos, la muerte.
