Together! ACT Now is proud to be a Malawian led organization. We have no paid American staff and support a grassroots, local based approach to creating change within Malawi.

Barriers to ending AIDS

One of the major barrier to ending the AIDS epidemic is ACCESS:

• A lack of access to HIV education
• A lack of access to HIV testing
• A lack of access to HIV medicine

Together! ACT Now removes these access barriers by bringing all needed services directly to the villages. This includes HIV educational theatre, in-village HIV testing, and mobile medicine clinics.

All provided for free.

How we theatre

For years T!AN has brought theatre into villages with our main group of outreach actors. Working with the official HIV testers for the Mangochi district, T!AN chooses villages based on high HIV prevalence rates, where we will perform Targeted Community Testing.

Today, we focus on building the strength of our community groups. 20 local members in each village create art specific to their villages needs. On the day of a show the cast meets under a meeting tree. They sing, dance, & drum until a large crowd has gathered. They then perform their show to hundreds.

Once the show is complete we hold discussion groups to break down what we’ve learned with villagers. The whole time HIV testing and counselling is being provided nearby free of charge.
