Stitch was just trying to survive.

This young stray was found on the streets of Dallas with a devastating injury. X-rays revealed the heartbreaking truth — Stitch had been shot, and the bullet shattered his shoulder blade and tore through the muscles that allow a dog to walk and run.

Despite everything he has endured, Stitch remains incredibly gentle. When our volunteer picked him up to take him to the hospital, he leaned in for pets and wagged his tail.

Dogs like Stitch never understand cruelty.

They only understand people.

Right now Stitch urgently needs surgery to remove the bullet and treat the severe damage to his shoulder. Because the injury is so extensive, the best chance for him to live a pain-free life is a forelimb amputation. Dogs adapt incredibly well to life on three legs, and with the right care, Stitch will be able to run, play, and enjoy life again.
