Honor their service. Support their second chance.
The Vet Alliance–Memorial Unit Group is a peer-led program inside the Memorial Unit that equips incarcerated U.S. military veterans with the tools, community, and resources to heal, grow, and prepare for successful reentry. Your gift powers unit-approved, veteran-focused programming delivered in collaboration with Texas Prisons Alliance and Memorial Unit leadership—in full compliance with TDCJ policy. Texas Prisons alliance serves as their outside sponsor.
What your donation makes possible (unit-approved uses):
Veteran Resource Kits (notebooks, pens, folders, postage, and forms) so vets can participate fully in classes and outreach.
Curriculum & Workbooks for trauma-informed peer groups, resilience and goal-setting sessions, and reentry planning.
Benefits & Records Navigation (DD-214 requests, VA benefits prep, referrals) coordinated with approved staff and partners.
Education Support (printing, study guides, and select correspondence materials where permitted).
Veteran Library Shelf expansion with approved titles (leadership, recovery, career readiness, financial literacy).
Program Operations (rosters, printing, recognition certificates, and reporting) to keep the cohort active and accountable.
Why this matters
Veterans inside face unique challenges—moral injury, PTSD, lapses in benefits, and limited access to resources. Structured, veteran-specific support reduces disciplinary incidents, strengthens pro-social identity, and improves reentry outcomes. Your gift turns a housing area into a unit of purpose.
