TPF resources organizations like Detroit People's Food Co-op, Detroit is Different, Detroit Safety Team, and many more. Read more about the Transforming Power Fund & the Giving Project below. The Transforming Power Fund (TPF) is a Detroit-based social justice fund committed to transformative systems change. TPF offers a bottom-up approach to funding grassroots movements and community organizers, and prioritizes supporting social justice organizations, creative efforts, and community action led by people of color living in our focus areas of Hamtramck, Highland Park, and Detroit. The Transforming Power Fund Model is anchored by participatory grant-making and donor organizing practices and is intended to be applicable nation-wide. These practices place decision-making power around grant-making and resource distribution in the hands of the grassroots communities TPF aims to support. Each year the Giving Project brings together a small group of Detroiters to learn skills in fundraising and grantmaking, and move a significant amount of money to local grassroots organizing efforts. The Giving Project cohort attempts to embody transformative systems change by building principled solidarity across race and class, equitably raising money, and redistributing funds back into the community through democratic decision-making processes. The 2023 Giving Project will power our Movement Building Fund, providing two-year grants of general operating support to established social justice organizations working for transformative change. Cohort members are activated around various social justice issues and use creative approaches to nurture strong communities throughout the city. Durfee Innovation Society<br>
