Dear Palestine: A Literary Journey (Poetry Reading / Book Sharing)

Join us for a captivating Poetry Reading and Book Sharing event featuring talented poets Zeina Azzam, Farid Bitar, and Xana R. Explore a curated selection of books on Palestine, ranging from non-fiction and art to graphic novels and cookbooks.

Zeina Azzam: Is a Palestinian American poet, writer, editor, and community activist. She is the poet laureate of the City of Alexandria, Virginia, for 2022 -2025. She will be joining us via Zoom and copies of her recent poetry book, “Some Things Never Leave You” will be for sale.

Farid S. Bitar, a Palestinian-American poet, artist, and musician, brings his multidimensional creativity to the forefront with literary works such as "Footprints in the Mist - A Palestinian Soul" and unique collections like "Fuzzy Lines - 67/48," featuring 48 poems and 67 paintings.

Xana R, a passionate freelance writer and advocate, shares her powerful poem "I'm not a kid but..." aiming to open hearts and inspire empathy for the oppressed.

Expressive Impressions: A Block Printing Workshop

Spend a relaxing few hours learning rubber stamp block printing. We’ll be creating our stamps featuring doves, olive branches, watermelons, poppies, and other symbols to show our solidarity with Palestine. We will use these stamps to create mini posters and/or tote bags. No prior experience is required!

Sumana is a fine artist and surface designer who has a passion for patterns, collage, and textile design. Her work often reflects the sun-drenched memories of her adolescent years spent in India, where the colors, textures, and folk arts continue to fascinate her. She uses block printing methods and mixed media to create her images. You can find her work at PBS fabrics, Spoonflower, and Fy! And Society6.

Palestine Unveiled: A Teach-In for Solidarity

Come learn about the history of Palestine as it relates to current events. What is happening is not a war or a centuries-long religious conflict. Find out the news that mainstream Western media isn’t covering or is very purposely obscuring. Leave with talking points to help you be a better advocate for a free Palestine.

Creative Workshop: Button Crafting for Change

Join us for a creative and meaningful event in solidarity with Palestine! Bring your ideas to our button-making event, where you can craft unique Palestine-themed buttons to wear proudly. We'll provide a button-making machine and copies of words, artwork, stamps, and ink in watermelon, poppy, olive branch, and keffiyeh designs for those less artistically inclined. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting, let's come together, express our support, and make a statement through art.
