The Sean Monterrosa Project
In the aftermath of our brother Sean's tragic loss, our family has turned pain into a powerful movement, fueling an unyielding quest for justice and accountability. We - Michelle and Ashley Monterrosa - created and lead The Sean Monterrosa Project, a multifaceted initiative confronting systemic issues and reclaiming the narrative surrounding police violence. Our mission is to serve as an orchestrator for transformational changes in systems that impact communities, policing and public safety, while elevating the legacy of Sean Monterrosa. We accomplish this through:
-
Policy Advocacy
-
Narrative Change
-
Community Organizing
-
Cultural Strategies
-
Civic engagement
We partner with community organizations, policy makers, impacted families and communities, to prevent harm, identify opportunities for collective transformation, and promote systems change.
By uplifting the life and legacy of Sean Monterrosa, we are able to galvanize communities of color to lead systemic changes to the criminal legal system. We bring stakeholders together to address police misconduct and prevent future harm. The Sean Monterrosa Project is an incubator of imagination and world-making: we draft blueprints that build new frameworks that center the wisdom of impacted families and those that are system involved. Together we will be able to promote systems change, shift policy and work together to build durable and lasting safety in our communities. While we are in the early stages of formalizing our organization, we are actively seeking further sources of funding and donations.
This campaign is fiscally sponsored by the Anti Police-Terror Project.
