Join us in our mission to provide a world-class STEM education

Every year, through hands-on, mentor-based educational programs, we empower the STEM leaders of tomorrow, both inside and outside the classroom. We believe young people have the most fantastic opportunity to learn by doing, so every year, they start with what seems like an impossible challenge: to build a robot from scratch. Over six weeks, students who may have never thought they had STEM, communication, or leadership skills are empowered to realize and utilize them as a force for change. They learn to manage projects, run teams, market, fundraise, and build robots. Students see how essential skills such as mathematics, coding, and science can be applied to make real-world change.

By making STEM and leadership skills exciting, we encourage students to pursue critically needed career pathways and live successful lives.

By January 4th, we need your support in raising $7,000 of critical funding.

We rely on the generous contributions of supporters like you to help fund critical expenses such as robot parts, event costs, and shop tools. Without this support, we cannot continue to fulfill our mission of bringing proven STEM educational opportunities to our community. This program teaches the vital skills students will need to become leaders of the 21st century, including mathematics and scientific thinking while guiding growth in critical soft skills like leadership and communication.

Last season, the future of our program looked uncertain due to the loss of significant funding. We looked to our local and greater community to help support students in a time of need. We are proud of and ever grateful for what our community accomplished. Not only did we meet our fundraising goals and ensure that a new class of students would have this same valuable opportunity, but we also led incredible growth.

With the support of our community behind us, we were able to lead new initiatives for robot design, bring strong guidance into imagery and brand design, and develop new methodologies for training and teaching students, allowing them to have a firm grasp on essential skills. All of this paid off, and we couldn't be more proud of our '24 season.

In just one year, thanks to your support, we were able to:

Compete in the playoffs event at our regional competition for the first time in five years
We won the Team Spirit Award, recognizing our tremendous growth in marketing, imagery, and cohesiveness of team spirit
Ranked 18th during one of our regional competitions and were selected for an alliance that placed 3rd during the event
Change and overhaul elements of team training, incorporating innovative robot design and build, utilizing novel technologies and techniques, allowing for broad student participation and team success.
- By focusing on a prototyping forward build system, we increased student participation, reduced the time and resources it took to create a final robot, became increasingly competitive, and maximized financial efficiency.
Launch and grow a dedicated nonprofit to support, fundraise, and advocate for The Fighting Calculators and other local STEM educational & robotics programs.
