As many of you know, our family has supported the work of Tabitha's Heart since it first began. Founded by our friend Rachel Waldstein, Tabitha's Heart gives families in the slums of Calcutta, India, the tools they need to break the cycle of extreme poverty and have hope for the future.
School isn't free in India. Poor families often have to choose between educating their children and feeding them, and COVID has made this even harder. That's why the Tabitha's Heart School Sponsorship Program is so important. Just $38 a month ($456 per year) covers a child's tuition, uniform, and books at a high-quality school, as well as special tutoring and a hot meal at a Tabitha's Heart center every weekday. We've seen the program first-hand, and we can tell you that $38 per month is an amazing bargain!
We've sponsored many kids over the years. It's a joy to watch them grow into young adults who have the skills and vision to help lift their families out of poverty. One of the girls we sponsored early on was the first in the history of her slum to graduate from high school. She then went on to college and became a teacher!
