Teal Elephant Project

We believe equestrian sports should be accessible to all—not just those with financial privilege. Our program is designed to promote equestrian equity, providing access, education, and healing through horsemanship. By breaking down barriers, we empower underserved youth to build confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills. We create opportunities for kids who might never have had access to horses otherwise—because of financial limitations, lack of representation, or other barriers. We ensure they have the support, resources, and encouragement to not just participate but to actually belong.

The Teal Elephant Project is a year-long commitment designed to provide participants with access to structured equine-based learning, mentorship, and personal development. Our collaboration with STARS Sporthorses allows students to engage in a comprehensive riding academy while also experiencing the therapeutic benefits of working with horses. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to attend summer camps that reinforce their training and leadership skills.

Participant Eligibility & Application Process:
To ensure the program serves the most dedicated and deserving youth, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Commitment: A signed agreement for a one-year commitment, with encouragement to continue through high school graduation.

  • Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need, with documentation if required.

  • Academic Performance: A minimum GPA requirement (e.g., 2.5 or higher) to encourage academic responsibility.

  • Recommendation Letters: Three letters from teachers, mentors, or community leaders attesting to character, commitment, and suitability for the program.

  • Behavioral Expectations: Applicants must maintain good standing in school and avoid disciplinary actions or legal trouble.

  • Personal Statement: A short essay or video about why they want to join and what they hope to gain from the program.

Financial Need & Sponsorship Opportunities:
Serendipity Farm & Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations—monetary or in-kind—are tax-deductible. You will receive a donation receipt for your records. To ensure accessibility for underserved youth, we seek funding to cover program expenses for five students in the first year. The breakdown of costs per student is as follows:

  • Annual Academy Tuition: $3,800

  • Required Riding Gear & Summer Camp: $1,200

Total Cost Per Student: $5,000

With an initial goal of supporting five students, the total funding needed for the first year is $25,000. This funding will provide access to the academy, essential riding equipment, and summer camp opportunities for each participant.
