Team Avalon 2021

Greetings from Team Avalon, 2021!

Under the leadership of Mayor Pagliughi, the "team" approach to good government has worked, and worked very well! Team Avalon 2021 led by Council President John McCorristin will continue good, stable leadership. McCorristin is joined by Jamie McDermott and Mari Coskey. 

John has been a leader on Borough Council since 2013, creating valuable milestones for the short and long-term financial health of the town. All long-term general obligation debt has been eliminated, and Avalon maintains a AAA bond rating. He has assisted in eliminating a municipal tax increase for the past three consecutive years, and implemented sustainable resiliency and recreational opportunities for generations to come.

Jamie has chaired the Avalon Planning and Zoning Board, presiding over strategic land use and development issues in our community. Jamie's professional career includes serving as the Executive Director for the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority along with local volunteer leadership through the Avalon Lions Club and the Avalon Yacht Club.

Mari's devotion to Avalon begins with her career as Coordinator for Special Education Services for both the Avalon and Stone Harbor Elementary Schools, where she also serves as our district's speech language pathologist. Mari holds a Master's Degree from LaSalle University, and has been a longtime volunteer with Avalon's Friend In Need organization.
