Friends and neighbors,

I am writing this letter for two distinct purposes. I am asking for your support for Team Avalon 2023 during the May 9 municipal election in Avalon. Team Avalon 2023 consists of current Councilman John McCorristin for Mayor, and councilmembers Barbara Juzaitis and Sam Wierman for Borough Council.

Second, I want to thank you for all of your support and endorsement of the Team Avalon concept during my tenure as Mayor. I am stepping aside after serving you as Mayor for the past 32 years. There are times in life when you just know “it’s time,” and that time has arrived for me and my wife Lynda. By doing so, I provide my complete support to John, Barbara, and Sam, three public servants who understand that by working as a team great accomplishments are possible. John has been by my side on numerous projects and initiatives including the creation of the Avalon Free Public Library, the elimination of all long-term general obligation debt, and capital projects, to name a few. Barbara and Sam bring years of professional experience to our most challenging issues including finance, insurance, management, and public safety.

The achievement of great success in a community requires a team, not one individual. John, Barbara, and Sam are not only the “present” in Avalon, but they are also our future. This team has proven experience working together for the best interests of Avalon and has supported my efforts as Mayor. I am appreciative of their dedication to public service, and I ask you to take the time to vote on May 9th and support Team Avalon 2023.
