The Brooklyn Nomads have a few timely and inspiring projects coming up this year. We're hosting an exclusive gathering (hosted by Zoubair Esseghaier & Anissa Ghadab) to a limited number of people to share our plans with our community and raise money over a good company and live music. We hope you will join us!

This fundraiser will allow us to produce more projects, nurture more collaborations, curate more shows, share more content, and deliver higher quality work. We believe this is important for many reasons:

Music transcends many barriers. It breaks down many language and cultural walls. We help bring people together and see who we are through the songs, stories, and rhythms of the Arab World
Music brings people together. Our shows attracts people from our own culture as well as from different cultures. The makeup of our audience also reflects the makeup of our ensemble, which have over 20 artists from 12 different cultures.
There is a lack and a need. We are one of the very few cross-cultural ensembles rooted in Arabic Music traditions. We need to tell our stories and tell them loud.
A tool to raise awareness. We use our music to raise awareness about important projects, the last one being about Palestine through our Hanzala Project.
A tool to heal. We use our music to heal, through bringing people together but also through immersive sound healing projects like Step Inward.
A tool to live. We use our music to laugh and dance and feel. We love to live the way we are, proud of our culture and values. We want to share this with our community and be an inspiration to them.

How will we use the funding?

With this money, we can produce 2 to 4 projects a year that align with the goals outlined above of awareness, healing, collaboration, and celebrating Arabic culture. It will also provide us with support to share content online more regularly, print our own merchandise, produce one album, get a weekly rehearsal space, and create educational workshops for our community.

We need to raise $300k by September of this year. We will make all of this happen over the next 18 months.

"The Brooklyn Nomads is a cross cultural ensemble rooted in traditions from the Arab World. The ensemble has performed at The Kennedy Center, TED, MIT, Joe's Pub, and others. Interpreting Arab folk music through cultural and musical backgrounds as diverse as Brooklyn itself, the Brooklyn Nomads put a multicultural spin on a wide Arabic repertoire and bring it to a diverse audience at venues, institutions, schools, and universities. Founded in 2014 by Hadi Eldebek, the Brooklyn Nomads have shared hundreds of performances and workshops with thousands of audiences. Recently, The Brooklyn Nomads produced Hanzala, a multimedia project centered around Naji Ali Ali's cartoon of Palestinian child, Hanzala."
