Co-founded by Dr. Carol Adams in 2016, the South Shore Works Planning and Preservation Coalition is a 501©3 organization dedicated to the restoration and revitalization of the South Shore community.
We envision a culture wellness centered, vibrant, mixed-income community with a bustling commercial corridor, stable housing stock, good schools, stimulating cultural arts, recreational outlets, and a diverse array of opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
Our mission is to create a collaboratory that both harnesses and faciliates the collective power of South Shore entities, institutions, agencies, residents, and stakeholders in the design, creation and sustenance of a thriving, healthy, wealthy, and collectively well community.
Our four immediate focal points include a) updating and implementing South Shore's Quality of Life Plan, b) owning and operating the Cafe for Community Collaboration, c) estabilishing a community wellness hub in South Shore, d) implementing an ongoing behavior change marketing campaign to inform and influence health and wellness in the South Shore community.
This work is undergirded by the utilization of Black Culture Wellness as our Theory of Transformation.
After having just recently celebrated Dr. Adams’ 80th birthday, and her expansive career that encompasses work as an educator, civic and cultural arts administrator, civil rights organizer, museologist and community activist, South Shore Work is positioned to build on a legacy that informs and empowers generations to come.
We invite you to join us in building better...together...in South Shore. Thank you for considering a donation.
