The Franklin Band has a long and storied history. The band program was formed in 1937 and from then to now has occupied a special place in both the school and broader community. In the 1980’s and 90’s the band was well represented on the national parade circuit - appearing in both the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Tournament of Roses Parade during this period. Following this, under a new director, the band began to focus its collective efforts and energies on Bands of America competitions with great success. Franklin is a two-time BOA Regional Champion and four-time class national runner-up. The band consistently places in the top 25 bands nationwide at the Bands of America Grand Nationals competition. With a new director, Dr. Michael Holland, and renewed excitement, the band is poised to revisit its tradition of representing Franklin and the state of Tennessee on the national stage in parades and other community-based, forward-facing venues.
