At Braided Haven, we believe that everyone deserves a soft place to land. For the youth in our community facing housing instability and crisis, that "soft place" is often hard to find.

That’s where the Spectrum Six come in.

The Labor of Love

These aren't just toys. They are Authentic Emotional Support Chickens™, hand-knit from the world-famous artisan pattern by Annette Corsino. Every single one of the thousands of stitches in this collection was knit by hand right here in Topeka.

We chose the colors of the Pride flag because they represent the values we hold dear at the shelter: Life, Healing, Sunlight, Nature, Serenity, and Spirit. From the bold red of Amelia Egg-hart to the deep violet of Maya Angel-egg, this flock is a symbol of the diverse, vibrant community we are building together.

Meet the Leading Ladies

Meet the Spectrum Six: six artisan hens with big personalities and an even bigger purpose. From Amelia Egg-hart’s adventurous red to Maya Angel-egg’s poetic spirit, these ladies represent the pillars of the Pride flag and everything we care about at Braided Haven. We used Annette Corsino’s world-renowned pattern to bring them to life, making them unique pieces of fiber art for a great cause. Maybe you need the soulful, restorative wisdom of Hen-rietta Beecher Stowe, the pure joy of Yolko Ono, the grounded nature of Mother Ter-egg-sa, or the calm of Meryl Peep. Whichever hen you’re rooting for, every stitch was made to turn your support into a soft place to land for Topeka’s youth.

The "Why"

Artisan hens like these have recently auctioned for over $380 a piece. But we didn't want to sell them to the highest bidder. We wanted to give our community a chance to bring them home while raising $6,000 for our vital programs.

By purchasing a ticket, you are directly funding:

Allergy-safe bedding and comfort items for our residents.
Emergency support services for LGBTQ+ youth in crisis.
Stable, nurturing environments where kids can simply be kids.

How the Raffle Works

We are limiting this drawing to only 200 tickets. Why? Because we want the odds to be in your favor.

On May 18th, we will go Live from our Board Meeting to draw the winners. The first name drawn gets "First Pick" of the flock—the second name gets second pick, and so on, until all six Leading Ladies have found their forever homes.
