THE YEAR THAT WAS (working title) an independent documentary film and impact campaign.
When Israeli trauma surgeon Dr. Shachar Shimonovich is diagnosed with terminal cancer, his vision of bringing advanced trauma training to Israel seems out of reach—until his former colleague, Dr. Anna Goldenberg, takes up the challenge.
In the wake of October 7, Dr. Goldenberg commits herself to realizing this mission. She mobilizes a network of allies, raises urgent funds, and overcomes political and logistical barriers to bring a U.S. trauma training course to Israel—just in time for it to make a difference.
This is a story about friendship, being in service of humanity, and the extraordinary lengths one person will go to save lives.
The educational and community impact campaign will activate diverse communities — medical, Jewish, interfaith, and international — to come together in conversation and reflection. Through screenings, community discussion, and additional training, the campaign will elevate the power of friendship, service, and learning.
All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law and will be followed with an Acknowledgement Letter.
