1 in 8 women born in the U. S. will get breast cancer. Iowa has one of the fastest-growing rates of breast cancer nationwide and mammogram rates aren’t increasing.

Council Oak Supply wants to raise awareness about breast cancer and support local patients with all types of cancer. Get your tickets now for Tie A Ribbon, an event on Wednesday, October 30 from 6:30-8:30 PM at their location at 101 W 3rd Street in Sioux City featuring a coffee bar, cocktails, charcuterie, cakes, live music, as well as fabulous silent auction items.

Proceeds of the Tie A Ribbon event will benefit the Patient Assistance Program at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center to help break down barriers to cancer treatment and provide Siouxland patients with financial assistance when it’s needed.

Financial toxicity in medicine describes problems a patient has related to the cost of medical care. Several studies show that cancer patients and survivors are more likely to have financial toxicity than people with other medical conditions. Cancer is one of the most expensive medical conditions to treat in the United States. Cancer treatment can affect your ability to work and pay your bills and sometimes the stress of how you will cover the cost of your treatment and other expenses during treatment is just as great as the actual diagnosis.

The June E. Nylen Cancer Center is able to offer financial assistance to our patients through the generosity of charitable donations. We understand there can be financial burdens during cancer treatment and our Patient Assistance Program provides support to aid with mortgage/rent, utilities, transportation and gas, as well as groceries. Freeing up these daily living expenses allows patients to direct those dollars to their out-of-pocket treatment costs. The Patient Assistance Program truly removes barriers to treatment and impacts the lives of local cancer patients.
