Irish Wolfhounds player and former Team Ireland gold medalist Joe Cosgrove will be traveling to Portadown, Northern Ireland to kickoff the new Baseball Fusion program for local youth.

Joe will be working alongside local coaches to share his knowledge of the game to create a sustainable youth baseball program in and around Portadown.

As part of Joe's dedication to growing the game of baseball in Ireland, he has committed to raising funds on behalf of the Irish Youth Baseball program. 

To participate in the program, American coaches are required to commit to fundraising for their trips. The funds raised cover essential travel expenses and contribute to providing equipment, uniforms, and other resources to the partner clubs.

The fundraising aspect of the program plays a critical role in sustaining the growth and impact of the program. We encourage baseball fans across America to support the cause with donations in small dollar amounts. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the future of baseball in Ireland!

The Baseball Fusion Program

Joe's work is part of a new program called "Baseball Fusion." Baseball Fusion is a partnership between the Irish American Baseball Society, Emerald Diamond International, Oasis Youth Group, and Healthy Kidz. The program empowers youth leaders, ages 14-18, to teach sports to younger children, ages 8-12.

Joe will spend two days working with youth leaders, to give them a crash course on teaching baseball skills and fundamentals. The following three days, Joe will work with the youth leaders and Healthy Kidz coaches, to introduce the game to younger kids, ages 8-12.

About Portadown

Portadown is a town in County Armagh, Northern Ireland with a population of 32,000. The town sits on the River Bann in the north of the county, about 24 miles southwest of Belfast. 

Portadown is the home of the first and only school-based baseball program on the island of Ireland. Each year, 2,000 children are introduced to the game of baseball through innovative programming and activities. The Baseball Fusion is the next step in the growth and development of youth baseball in Portadown.
