The Abilities Expo was an incredible opportunity for the MIF to connect with similar organizations and publications who are eager to collaborate with us. The interest and enthusiasm we received reaffirmed our mission to revolutionize the mobility industry and improve accessibility for all. With so many exciting opportunities on the horizon, it's clear that we have our work cut out for us, but we're more motivated than ever to make a difference.

Throughout the weekend, I had the privilege of engaging in countless conversations about the challenges faced by wheelchair users when it comes to equipment repairs. The stories of frustration and suffering were all too familiar, and it only reinforced our commitment to advocating for change. As Chase Kahn so eloquently put it, "We deserve the right to fix our things when we need them fixed, not when someone else thinks we deserve it."

Despite the long days and sleepless nights, our passion for our mission never wavered. From discussing the importance of open-source mobility to advocating for the right to repair, our voices were heard loud and clear: "Open Source Mobility is open source mobility."

At the heart of our work is the belief that individuals with disabilities deserve the freedom to live their lives to the fullest. Whether it's finding and holding a job, parenting our children, or simply going where we want to go and doing what we want to do, accessibility is essential.

We cannot allow persons with disabilities to continually be trapped in our own homes as we wait weeks, months, or even years for repairs. It's time for change, and the Mobility Independence Foundation is ready to lead the way.

These conventions cost thousands of dollars to attend, and we’ve already committed to going to all seven Abilities Expo regional events this season. The New York being local for me was relatively simple, but to be able to travel all across the country I will need the assistance of a dedicated driver, a more reliable Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle because I am unable to fly on airlines, and the funds to be able to reach our destination.

We have a very exciting year ahead of us and we absolutely would not be able to do this without support from folks like you and I am deeply humbled for you and all the people who have chosen to believe in this crazy idea that I’ve come up with!
