Hi, I’m Theresa Ford, and today I’m asking you to pause for just a moment and open your heart for Special Pals, Inc. and the animals who have nowhere else to turn.

Special Pals exists to save lives others have already given up on. Their mission is simple but incredibly hard: to save as many animals as possible and help make Houston the gold standard for animal welfare. That mission comes with an emotional and financial cost that most people never see.

Right now, Special Pals is carrying an overwhelming burden of extreme veterinary expenses. From countless Parvo and feline panleukopenia cases to the most recent and heartbreaking case of Harry, the need is urgent and growing.

Harry came to Special Pals already suffering far beyond what any animal should endure. His medical needs are not minor. They are urgent, complex, and incredibly expensive, but walking away was never an option. When an animal is hurting, rescue doesn’t get to say, “it’s too much.” We say, “we’ll figure it out.”

Harry was found abandoned, severely neglected, and in unimaginable pain. The massive open wound on his face is raw, infected, and has gone untreated for far too long. Looking at him, it was impossible not to feel the weight of how long he must have suffered alone.

This gentle giant is now in the care of Special Pals and their team of incredible veterinarians and techs receiving emergency veterinary care, but his journey is far from over. His recovery will require extensive wound treatment, pain management, possible surgery, and weeks, if not months, of healing. Every single step forward comes with another medical bill… and another choice to keep fighting for him.
