Martin’s Recovery Update – We Still Need Your Help 💔

Martin is finally beginning to show us his goofy, talkative personality, and it melts our hearts to see him playful and craving love after everything he’s endured. 🐾 He’s learning what it means to be safe, cared for, and truly part of a family.

But while his spirit is shining, his body is still healing. His wounds will take a long time to fully recover, and along the way he needs ongoing wound care, special supplies, and comforts to keep him safe and supported. His recovery is not just emotional—it’s also very costly.

UPDATE: Martin had surgery to have the rope removed. The vet told us the bloodwork shows serious infection and some very damaged skin. His road to recovery will be a long one but we are going to do whatever it takes to heal this sweet boy. 

When Animal Control picked up Martin, they were met with a heartbreaking sight. This sweet boy had been living in pain and suffering that no animal should ever have to endure. A rope was found embedded deep in his neck, cutting into his skin and leaving behind unimaginable wounds from what must have been a long period of neglect.

As if that wasn’t enough, Martin is also battling mange—his skin raw, itchy, and sore—and we fear there may be even more hidden health issues waiting to surface. He has already begun vet care, where bloodwork and additional tests will help us understand just how much his little body has been through.

And yet… through it all, Martin remains gentle. He leans in for affection, his eyes soft and forgiving, as if all he wants is to finally feel safe and loved. To think that a dog who has known so much cruelty can still show such sweetness is nothing short of extraordinary.

🙏 Martin is now under the care of our veterinary team, receiving the urgent treatment he so desperately needs. But his journey to recovery will be long, and the medical expenses are already adding up quickly—wound care, medications, mange treatment, bloodwork, follow-up visits, and likely more interventions as we uncover the full extent of his condition.
