In 2024, Underhound Railroad has rescued 36 dogs (and counting!), just a few of whom are pictured above. Coco Puff, Dove and her litter, and Patti Mayonnaise have needed our loving care, and we feel fortunate we have been able to help them with the aid of our generous supporters.

Now, in this season of giving, we are focusing on raising funds for Brook, Ronnie and Bruno and Biscuit with a goal of raising $1,200 (for Brook), and a "stretch goal" to raise another $1,300 for the others to carry us through the end of the year.

Brook, currently in foster care with Underhound Railroad, came to us from a North Carolina county shelter with a broken leg. Although we knew her injury would be expensive to treat, we couldn't say no to this special girl who was only 8 months old, and we knew that she needed her chance at a happy life. Brook's vet bills and transportation have accumulated to $1,193.40, although the good news is that her leg has healed and she is ready to find her people. 💗

Ronnie and Bruno are our two handsome blue and white pitties who have sadly not found their forever homes yet and have required boarding and transportation between foster homes this year. This is a sad reality for some of our pit mixes, who are sometimes overlooked by potential adopters.

Ronnie has been described as "Raleigh’s biggest lovebug," "a good boi" a cuddler, a couch potato, AND he is up for any adventure outdoors as well. He is all about loving on his person. Routine veterinary care for Ronnie, as well as some boarding and transportation bills, have combined to reach almost $800 this year.

Bruno, with his signature "stand-up" ear on one side and a floppy ear on the other, is an exuberant doggo who has never met a stranger and is still waiting for his forever family to find him. He has had more than $675 in vet, transportation and boarding expenses this year.

Last but not least, Biscuit came to us in 2021 with her friend Ditto. Their owner had passed away, and then their caretaker let them get loose. They were strays until some kindhearted souls managed to take them in and try to find their family. When contacted, the family of the deceased owner did not want them back. Underhound Railroad took both dogs in and has provided them with loving homes and medical care. Ditto was adopted but has since passed away, and Biscuit has been diagnosed with cancer. This sweet senior has a home with Underhound Railroad as a hospice pup, so she can live in love and comfort in the time she has left. Her most recent vet bill came to $185.
