A few weeks ago a woman and her two kids visited our food pantry at The Life at Timber Ridge apartments for the first time. She said she recently moved to the community after a long-term stay at a homeless shelter and had no food for her family.
Ms. Hazel, a senior citizen, visited out food pantry and told me that she is having a hard time managing her money due to the rising cost of food and gas. She lives on a fixed income of less than $1000 per month. She's worried about how she can pay for food, medications and utility bills on such little money.
Melvin recently lost his job due to downsizing and is really worried about how he is going to provide for his family. The holidays are approaching and he desperately wants to have a traditional Christmas for his kids.
These stories are not rare but occur more and more in our communities. Cornerstone Family Resource Center is here to help struggling families with food, toys for children and other items to make this holiday season happy and joyous.
