Intro to Computer Aided Design using Fusion 360 : Designing A 3D Face Mask
Mon, Jul 27 12:00 PM – Wed, Aug 12 1:00 PM EDT
Live Stream
All registrants will receive Zoom log in information as we get closer to the event.
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of graphical communication for engineers using computer aided design (CAD). Fundamental concepts and the engineering process will be applied towards a meaningful purpose: Designing 3D Printed Face Masks in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fusion 360 will be used for all lessons. By the end of this eight-session workshop, you should be able to visualize how basic objects are designed in the modern world and its applications to additive manufacturing (i.e. 3D-printing). The class will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. What to expect: • What is CAD? Why do I need CAD? How engineering is a technical art and CAD is a platform for idea expression. • Design intent and the 12 Step Engineering Process. • The CAD interface • A deep dive into manufacturing considerations (i.e. in 3D Printing) • Idea representation by sketching. CAD's language of speech • The process of going from 2D to 3D. AKA Sketch & Build • Considerations when designing individual parts in 3D • Designing models driven by parameters • Industry/Real World Application: Using CAD to your advantage amidst COVID, designing a 3D Printed Face Mask • CAD and Engineering in the future (i.e. Generative Design)
