Thank you for considering supporting The African Connection, a non-profit organization committed to empowering girls worldwide through the provision of sanitary materials and comprehensive menstrual education. As the Development Director, I am thrilled to share with you our ongoing project, "Helping Girls in Need This Winter," and invite you to be a part of this impactful initiative.
Sanitary Materials for Girls in Need
At The African Connection, we collaborate with local organizations to establish a robust system for providing sanitary materials and support to girls in need. Our goal is to equip them with the resources necessary for a healthy and secure life. Your contribution will directly contribute to ensuring that these girls have access to essential sanitary care pads, particularly during the winter season when many girls tend to stay indoors longer, facing challenges like foul odors and discomfort due to colder weather.
Comprehensive Menstrual Education
We firmly believe in the power of comprehensive menstrual education to foster understanding of one's body, the menstrual cycle, and the confident and safe management of periods. Our aim is to eliminate the stigma surrounding menstruation and provide resources that empower girls to stay informed. By supporting us, you are championing the cause of informed and empowered girls everywhere.
Making a Difference
Our work is driven by passion, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that each girl has hope, health, freedom, security, safety, and access to education through our services. With your invaluable support, we can make a significant difference in the lives of these incredible young women.
Empowering Girls Everywhere During Winter
Research has shown that during the winter season, girls, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, face additional challenges, including a lack of access to sanitary care pads. Your generosity can help us address this critical issue and provide these girls with the means to stay clean and comfortable during the winter. We invite you to partner with us in making this goal a reality and positively impacting the lives of these girls.
Why do we do what we do?
Did you know that one out of ten girls in Sub-Saharan Africa misses school during their menstrual period, contributing to period poverty? In Namibia, inadequate sanitation facilities and the lack of sanitary pads lead to absenteeism, as noted by the Deputy Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Ester Anna Nghipondoka. At The African Connection Namibia, we are committed to ending period poverty and empowering the girl child to take charge of her menstrual health.
How You Can Help
For as little as $10 a month, you can join the AC family and support our efforts to serve young Namibians, especially during these challenging times of record unemployment and the ongoing effects of the pandemic. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of these young girls, enabling them to grow and develop professionally.
Recent Achievements
On 11 August 2021, The African Connection Inc., in partnership with The Atlantic Junior Secondary School and Erongo Regional Council Pad Drive, provided 500 sanitary pads to Namibian girls in need. Our recent donation of 100 packs of sanitary pads to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare is a testament to our commitment to advancing the cause of ensuring that the girl child has access to sanitary pads, becomes more confident, and increases her chances of staying in school.
Please get in touch with us if you would like more information or find out how you can contribute. Your support is crucial in making a lasting impact on the lives of these girls.
Thank you for considering joining us on this important mission.
