Children's Wishes 2024 Annual Appeal

Giving hope and happiness to a child with a life-threatening medical condition has magical powers! We have seen how granting a Wish lifts their spirits and helps them fight with more strength. We continue to be moved with each Wish that we grant.

Our Wish Warrior, Brock, was diagnosed with a rare cancer called CIC-DIX4 fusion sarcoma. This required removal of a brain tumor, chemotherapy and radiation to ensure the cancer did not return. Brock completed his treatment in January of 2024 and he is now living life as a happy, healthy, 4-year-old boy. Brock’s Wish was to meet Spiderman at Universal Studios and to visit Disney World. According to Brock’s mom Melissa, from the ride to the airport with Spiderman, to our stay at Give Kids the World, to the private meet and greet with all the Universal Studios superheroes and every single experience we had at Disney World, this trip was pure perfection. This was surely a trip none of us will ever forget. After such an overwhelming and scary year, this was just the trip we needed to reconnect us as a family and truly enjoy each other without any medical or hospital connections! Thank you!

Children’s Wishes is a Rhode Island based organization that was established in 2009 to grant Wishes to Rhode Island children who are facing life threatening medical conditions. We refer to children in our program as “Wish Warriors.” Our Wish Warriors remain part of the Children’s Wishes family long after their Wish is granted. Years after the Wish and the treatment ends, families continue to be included in our Family Programming. They often support new families and children as they start this often-overwhelming medical journey.

A Wish can be as unique as a gaming station, a backyard playhouse, a trip to Disney or meeting a favorite sports hero. Since many of these children are medically fragile, it can be expensive to coordinate their safe travel. Children’s Wishes has granted 136 Wishes since 2009. Currently we have 29 children “in process” for their Wish.

Through our family programing we offer many family- friendly activities in a safe, accepting environment that often provides respite for the entire family. From annual parties and get togethers to the On Par Golf Academy, movie and craft nights, Words for Wishes Library and much more, our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming place for our Wish Warrior families.
