Back by popular demand! Join us for our 2021 Virtual Obon Scavenger Hunt, presented by The Sangha Initiative. We will start with a Zoom kick-off meeting on Saturday, July 17th, at 8:30AM, and teams will complete as many tasks as possible between 9:00AM and 9:00PM on Saturday, July 17th.

Enter as a team or individually ( we will place you on a team). During the day, you will have the opportunity to complete tasks such as, "video yourself loudly slurping udon", or "make a white elephant out of items found around the house". Teams receive points for each completed task (based on posted photos or videos). Special recognition and bragging rights will belong to those who finish all missions, as well as the highest scoring team. Additionally, awards will be given to best in show for each "Pop-up".

The recommended donation for your entry is $20 per device, with a suggested maximum of 2 adults per 1 device.

Note on payment: you will be asked if you wish to cover the transaction fees for your donation, and if you wish to provide a tip to GiveButter. These both may be added to your donation or you may change each to 0%.

The Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple is one of approximately 60 Jodo Shinshu temples and churches that are a part of the Buddhist Churches of America. Located in the Culver City area of Los Angeles, we have been promoting the Buddha Dharma for over 60 years. The Sangha Initiative is a recently formed group of mostly younger adults with a mission of helping to enhance the programs and services offered to members and friends while building for the future.
