Story
Sabot Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Trust conceived in 2016 with a prime focus on mental health, suicide awareness, suicide prevention at-risk, transition and homeless issues involving veterans. We are now ENTERING OUR 7th YEAR and have connected with OVER 2500 VETERANS through a variety of holistic and peer-to-peer programs. Over 112,000 veterans have committed suicide since 2001, 37,000 of those suicides' are connected to service in Afghanistan and Iraq. The foundation has been involved in more than 80 events which provide awareness, support and outreach. A series of studies that covered suicides from 1999 to 2021, show that roughly 17- 22 veterans were succumbing to suicide per day, which is one every 65 minutes. On September 17, 2022, a new Joint Study was released by the America’s Warrior Partnership (AWP). The research was completed by Duke University and the University of Alabama and they found that the number of veterans’ suicides was as high as forty-four (44) suicides per day – more than double the number of previous studies. After a review of the data from eight (8) states, the Study’s researchers determined that the undercounting of veteran suicides stemmed from human error and other factors that caused many deaths to be miscategorized. Sabot’s prime focus is, and has always been, on suicide awareness and suicide prevention. Our programs have saved many lives. The foundation maintains a platinum rating with Candid.
