Altamar Foundation Inc., Equitable Funding for Multi-Year Support

Dear Friends & Family,

As many of you know I am very passionate about philanthropy, and I strongly believe in the positive and powerful impact we can have on our community when we come together as a collective!

It fills me with sheer joy to announce the launch of

"The Altamar Foundation, Inc."

A movement of Latina and diverse women philanthropists committed to supporting grassroots organizations in Lawrence, MA.

Our Story, Our Name:

Raised in a Dominican matriarchal household I was led by the example of my grandmother Altagracia and my mother Maritza that as citizens we all have a responsibility to give back to our community and do what is right for our people. As a young girl I grew up knowing the importance of community and supporting others through their struggle’s despite of our own challenges. It was the right thing to do and collectively we made it happen! Today, my passion is in giving of my time, skills, talents, wealth, and resources to underserved BIPOC Communities. I strongly believe in giving back, being who I once needed in my life and in the power of community.

The Altamar Foundation is a Community Giving Circle with a 501c3 status. As members we pool our funds, allocate them back into the community and collectively make an impact! A giving circle is a perfect way to partner with the leaders and organizations at the forefront of the community-driven solutions. Altamar gives each of us the chance to flex our collective power, invest in our community, and grow in our personal and civic leadership. Together we will show the power of generosity, culture and people driven social change!

The Mission of the Altamar Foundation Inc is to support positive change through grantmaking and scholarships, contribute to a more just and equitable community, and support philanthropic opportunities for women in Lawrence, MA.

Our Vision is to ultimately challenge the landscape and inequities in philanthropy thus creating a pathway for more equitable change by:

  • Educating and building a movement of Latina and diverse women philanthropists to support under supported grassroots non-profits in Lawrence, MA.
  • Equitably investing in local grassroots non-profits through trust-based philanthropy practices.
  • Building civic power for and with young women to create the pipeline of future women in philanthropy.

The Current Need:

Altamar Grant Cycle Update:
Our Grants Review Committee is thrilled with the progress of our current grant cycle! Engaging with our non-profit partners in person has been incredibly insightful, showcasing the impact of our funding beyond monetary support. At Altamar, we prioritize equitable funding and trust-based practices, emphasizing multi-year giving.
On June 26th, we will be awarding two $5,000 grants. To extend our impact, we aim to transition this cycle into a multi-year initiative by raising an additional $10,000. Furthermore, a young woman seeks a $2,000 scholarship for a life-changing training academy opportunity.
Join us in supporting the Altamar movement towards equitable funding. Your contribution can make a significant difference in transforming lives. Together, we can create lasting impact!

Our brand is love! Love for community, Love for giving equitably and Love for women’s well-being!

All donations are greatly needed & very much appreciated.
