There are so many aquatic turtles that end up being released into the wild with no where to go. Many turtles are found/purchased as tiny babies and kept until they become very large and messy and caring for them is no longer feasible for their previous owners. We have multiple indoor and outdoor stock tank ponds, but having a large in-ground pond would allow our turtles to stay outdoors overwinter. Finding a rescue organization that is capable of accepting aquatic turtles that have been raised as pets is almost impossible. We would love to help fill this need in our community, but cannot do so without your support. We are fundraising to install an outdoor aquatic turtle pond with an enclosed fence where our native captive turtles can live outdoors and still receive food from humans (since many don't know how to hunt and have become reliant on us) and also mitigating the spread of disease from captive turtles to our wild populations.
