Add to Calendar 2024-05-17 09:00:00 2024-05-17 11:00:00 America/Denver New Vista School - Jack's Solar Garden We look forward to welcoming your students on a tour from the Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center at Jack's Solar Garden, the largest agrivoltaic research site of its kind in the nation. Your students will be able learn about agrivoltaics, the combination of solar and agriculture, and learn about its potential benefits to farmers, biodiversity and local communities. Attendees will walk among solar panels and observe different plots dedicated to agrivoltaic research. When you leave we hope you have an understanding of the benefits of agrivoltaics and become an advocate for agrivoltaic practices. Thank you! Some things to keep in mind before coming on the tour: 1) Tours are conducted entirely outside: - Surfaces throughout the site are unpaved and uneven - The site is exposed to the elements, with very little shade/cover - Please dress for current / expected weather conditions and bring water - there is no potable water available on-site - All participants must wear close-toed shoes  We recommend using appropriate sun protection; hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen 2) Facilities:  - There is one non-ADA accessible port-a-potty on site, please plan accordingly - Leashed service animals are allowed on site, but must be kept controlled - any unruly service animal will be asked to leave - for their safety. - Pets are not allowed on the site.  3) Jack’s Solar Garden is located at 8102 N. 95th St. Longmont, CO 80504 – trust Google Maps! - Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the tour starts so that the tour can begin on time - Please be careful when pulling into the driveway of Jack’s Solar Garden, this is a working farm and there are often people and animals on site. Signal early to turn from the main road and drive slowly past the farmhouse to the right of the silo. Once in the back lot, you will see a tour guide who will assist you with parking.  - There is ample space for tour buses to tour around on the east side of the silo, so please have your bus driver follow the above instructions too. 4) We require each attendee to register individually for this tour so that they can complete the liability waiver. 5) In case of inclement weather:  - Where possible, CALC staff will notify visitors before arriving on site if the weather conditions are unsuitable for a tour - full refunds will be issued. - If inclement weather arises during the tour: please follow the instructions of your tour guide. Tours will continue in light rain or snow.  6) Lightning Policy: For your safety, if lightning strikes within an 8-mile radius of the solar array, everyone must exit the array site promptly and regroup in the parking lot. Please follow your tour guides instructions carefully. Nobody is permitted within the solar array within 30 minutes of a lightning strike that occurs within an 8-mile radius. If lightning continues, your guide will continue presenting from the parking lot. If safe to do so, your tour guide will direct the group back into the array to continue the tour. This is for your safety. Please listen to your guide. Please reach out if you have any questions! We are looking forward to having you on site! 8102 N 95th St, Longmont, CO 80504, USA
