Every week, veterans in Santa Cruz County reach out to Vets 4 Vets when they’re facing unexpected and overwhelming challenges — running out of gas on the way to a medical appointment, sudden utility shutoffs,  car trouble that jeopardizes work or care, or basic groceries they can’t afford in a difficult moment.

These are small amounts on paper — $50, $100, $250 — but in a crisis, they feel enormous.
