American Association of University Women (AAUW) Fergus Falls, Minnesota branch, along with the state and national organizations of AAUW, works to advance equity for women and girls. AAUW has been empowering women since 1881. Our vision is equity for all.

Our AAUW branch has hosted the Tour of Homes since 1964 as a way to fund scholarships for women and girls in and around the Fergus Falls area.

Originally we partnered with Claire Ann Shover Nursery School and split the proceeds. Later, our branch took on the event by ourselves. In the first years, homeowners did their own decorating. In 1987, we started showcasing local businesses to decorate the homes. Businesses use their expertise and merchandise to decorate the homes for the holiday season providing inspiration to the many guests on tour. Due to the extensive coordination, all completed by our members as volunteers, we started hosting the event every other year.

As stated previously, the goal of each tour is to raise money to fund two years of scholarships. We award three scholarships a year with a typical award value of $1500 each. These scholarships are available to women of any age in the Fergus Falls and surrounding area who are pursuing a higher education. Applications can be accessed through area schools counselors and on our scholarship page.
