At Via International, we know that every migrant has a story, a name, and the right to a future. No one should be forgotten.

Every day, mothers, fathers, and children arrive in Tijuana, displaced by war, poverty, violence, and shifting U.S. immigration policies. Many come with nothing but the hope that they will find safety and a chance to rebuild.

But the reality is stark. Families are arriving alone, separated from loved ones, stepping into a city they don’t know, with no shelter, no food, and no support. This is a crisis. And we refuse to stand by.

A Response Rooted in Dignity & Compassion

Through our Via Migrante program, we are on the ground every day, offering meals, mental health support, and safe spaces for migrants in Tijuana.

But that is not all. We are also equipping people with leadership skills to help them rebuild their lives and create lasting change. Our work goes beyond providing aid,we empower individuals to build a future where they can thrive long after they leave the shelters.

We meet people at one of the hardest moments of their lives and remind them that they are not invisible. They are not alone.

As we open the NEW Comunidad de Luz shelter for women and children, we declare that every person deserves a place to rest, to heal, and to be treated with dignity.

🔹 Sergei and Vladi, a Russian couple who fled their country because they weren’t allowed to love who they love. With their lives in danger, they sought refuge in Tijuana, where they found hope and support through Via Migrante’s services.

🔹 Wendy, her wife, and their two kids escaped political unrest in Honduras. After a harrowing journey, they are rebuilding their lives through the safe spaces and community networks we provide.

🔹 Shakira, a transgender woman, faced severe discrimination and violence in her home country simply for being herself. She found strength, safety, and dignity at Via Migrante, where she no longer has to live in fear.

🔹 Monse, a mother who endured years of domestic violence, finally found the courage to leave her abusive husband. But before she could start over, he ensured she was deported—ripping her away from the only home she had ever known. Now, she’s in Tijuana, trying to rebuild her life while protecting her children. She is not alone, and with your support, she won’t have to be.

For 50 years, Via International has worked alongside communities in need, fostering resilience, compassion, dignity, and hope. Via Migrante was born in times of crisis, during the migrant caravans and the COVID-19 pandemic, when thousands were left stranded, unsure of where to turn. We showed up then. We are showing up now. And with your help, we will continue to stand beside those seeking refuge, because no one should be reduced to a statistic or forgotten at the border.
