Voices After the Storm: Ready, Resilient, Rebuilding

When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica, the storm damaged homes, disrupted livelihoods, and left women, children, and families facing urgent and ongoing needs. Inspire and Serve responded by listening, mobilizing partners, and working alongside communities to deliver practical, dignity-centered support.

Since the hurricane, our Voices After the Storm team has reached more than 3,000 people in communities across Jamaica—providing food, emergency and household supplies, roof and home-repair assistance, connectivity, wellness support, and other critical resources.

But recovery does not end when the immediate crisis passes. We continue returning to communities we have served, helping families address essential repairs, food insecurity, and emerging needs while extending our reach to others who still need support.

Through our Ready Before the Storm initiative, we are also helping households and communities prepare for future emergencies with readiness tools, resilience training, practical planning, and opportunities to practice what to do before the next storm arrives.
