The Governor has now signed H.454 into law, a far reaching education overhaul passed under pressure.

The bill lacked majority support from Senate Democrats and only passed with Republican votes. In the House, it quickly passed on a voice vote, leaving no public record of where members stood.

The process revealed how deeply private school interests shaped public policy.

During this last legislative session, donations from people like you enabled us to fund lobbying and communications work in support of our efforts. Your donations allowed us to have a presence in the statehouse to monitor bill activity and share updates with all of you. This is not over however and your continued support will mean that we can keep up the fight during the 2026 session.

Our goal is simple: to ensure that the distribution of public money for education in Vermont is done in a manner that is consistent with our state and federal constitutions. All schools that receive public funding must agree to comply with the state’s public school rules and regulations.
