### How Wigs 4 Purpose Started and How You Can Help

Lisa Corbin, the Founder and Executive Director of Wigs 4 Purpose, established this 501(c)(3) organization to address a silent struggle many women face: alopecia. Since 2010, Lisa has assisted hundreds of women from domestic violence shelters, cancer survivors, and those facing financial hardships. Her journey began while working in a hair salon and became a facilitator for cancer survivors in hospitals throughout Hampton Roads on behalf of the American Cancer Society. Patients often asked when she would create a space for them to attend to their beauty needs.

In 2019, Lisa's story was featured on Channel 13 and she was honored as "Making The Mark" in Hampton Roads on January 16, 2020. Following the broadcast, women from all over reached out for help, and many donations of wigs and hair were received. However, the pandemic made it challenging to refurbish wigs.

Wigs 4 Purpose was incorporated in July 2020 and received its 501(c)(3) status in April 2021. Despite the difficulties in getting started, the organization was awarded the 2020 Dr. Angela Reddix Rules Grant in May 2020. Since 2022, Wigs 4 Purpose has helped 320 women.

Our mission is to uplift and empower women of all ages who have experienced alopecia by providing beauty care assistance, education, counseling, and a network of support. We partner with the beauty industry and the community to promote economic growth with a sense of purpose. This year, we are raising funds for operational costs, implementing our educational program, and launching our environmental initiative called "Saving our Strands." Our vision is to establish the first community Beauty Center.
