GIVING TUESDAY - December 2

We invite you to participate in Giving Tuesday by contributing in whatever way you can!

LAHIA is the only full-service daytime safe haven for those who are unhoused in Martin County and we rely entirely on the generosity of the community and partner agency donations and does not receive funding from government programs.

Financial contributions play an essential role in our operations, and help support our housing assistance initiatives, which provide one-time rental aid and occasional utility expense support. We also offer transportation assistance programs that help with bike and car repairs for clients who are employed, experiencing homelessness and living in their vehicles, as well as purchasing Marty passes for local transit services to facilitate access to appointments and relocation services. Financial support is also crucial for our client services department, which aids clients in obtaining replacement drivers licenses, birth certificates, and social security cards, in addition to providing financial assistance for dental, medical, and vision care.

In-kind donations are ALWAYS very helpful, including food pantry items for our emergency pantry, clothing for our Clothing Pantry (which offers clothing once a week to clients), bicycles for working clients, and hygiene kits and toiletries for our Hygiene Cottage. These contributions support laundry services, showers, and cleaning supplies.

Today is a global day dedicated to generosity, offering an opportunity for individuals to give back to their communities and support meaningful causes like ours. Contributions can take many forms— from donations, volunteering, or simple acts of kindness, or even sharing this post.
