Wichita African Union Inc is a 501 (c) (3) public charity, EIN 45-4583328, organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Our mission is to promote educational excellence through award of scholarships, outreach programs and partnerships with like-minded organizations. We are launching a Capital Campaign for a building. We are looking for a medium size building in Wichita, that we can use as a center for our community, the African Diaspora. A simple building with a large room for meetings to accommodate at-least 50 people, with a kitchen and two bathrooms. As an organization, we are looking into ways that we can execute fundraising activities including collecting contributions from members in order to raise a fraction of the cost of the building. If someone is able to donate such a building, we are hoping that they would write it off as a tax deduction over a period of time, as applicable. The building would give our organization and the community a home for meetings, educational workshops and a center for the African Diaspora, space for counseling, youth development, and mentorship, space for  sharing the African culture from food, dance/music, and language with other local communities.
