Well Being Development's Northern Lights House is home to our Clubhouse, Care Facilitator service, and Recovery Residence. WBD has a vision that everyone in our community is living their best lives; we are contributing to a thriving community.

Our mission, to be a place where folks recovering from and living with mental illness and addiction work together toward well being, gives us purpose and direction.

Clubhouse supports adults living with and recovering from behavioral health challenges like chronic mental illness and addiction. Programming builds community through friendship, personal growth, and meaningful work. Members experience belonging, a sense of well-being, and encouragement to reach personal health, social, education, and vocational goals. “The Clubhouse provides the structure and support I need to create and maintain balance in my life. ” -Clubhouse Member
Our Care facilitators are community health workers who help access resources and empower wellness. Programming connects people to resources with respect and compassion. Community members are empowered to strive for wellness.
Recovery Residence provides a sober environment for up to four adults on their recovery journey. Programming is for Ely and by Ely, designed to help those challenged with addiction to be in a supported environment. This is a community focused on living our best lives.

Our Northern Lights House opened in November 2024! We are located in Ely at 248 N 3rd Ave E. This is the corner of Washington St and N 3rd Ave. E. We have a lot going on and invite you to come visit.

This is an old house and we have some work to do to improve our energy efficiencies and reduce our costs of heating the house through the winter. We also have some repairs to complete to keep everyone comfortable and safe. We have already secured $8,000 for this project through an IRRR grant. And through a tremendously generous anonymous donation, we are dedicating $20,000 of our savings to these improvements.

But we need to replenish our savings so that we are ready for new programming opportunities and able to expand our work. So we are looking for some help from our friends and neighbors. We hope to raise $12,000 in the coming 12-months to fully fund the needed improvements.

We also have a wish list that will help us save more energy and further reduce our energy consumption. We hope to replace some of our old single-pane windows on the 2nd floor with some double or even triple-pane windows. It would also be helpful to add some insulation to the walls of the house.

We started this project of the Northern Lights House in early 2023 with a big idea to address the heartbreak and tragedy that can come with addiction and chronic mental illness.
