On August 17, 2025, deputies with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office made a heartbreaking discovery. Two adult dogs and eight tiny puppies had been abandoned in wire crates on the side of the road. The temperature outside was 98°F, but in the direct sun it felt like 114°F. There was no shade. No food. No water for this family.

Inside one crate, a male dog sat weak and panting beside the lifeless body of the puppies’ mother. Her body showed the toll of starvation, dehydration, and heat exhaustion. She had fought to nurse her babies until she no longer could. In the crate beside them, eight four-to-six-week-old puppies whimpered in hunger and desperation. They were thin, sick, covered in their own excrement, and full of intestinal parasites and fleas. Yet still alive.
This case meets felony-level neglect. It's one of those cases where our anger feels palpable and we want to yell form the roof for the suffering of this innocent family. But their story is far from over and we're determined to make it one of survival.
RPM is stepping in to give this family a second chance.
We don't have the funds and we don't know how we're going to afford their care but how can we look away? The surviving dad, gentle through his own suffering, lets the puppies climb all over him with patience and love. Despite his neglect and inhumane treatment, he is sweet and loving towards everyone he's met. Now begins this family's long road to recovery. They'll need medical care, nourishment, safety, and a future where all they know is love.
Will you help us by donating even just $10 to their treatment and care?
