Meet Wallaby. One of the dogs in our rescue who was displaced from fires when her fosters had to evacuate and were unable to take her with them.

In Wallaby’s short life she hasn’t had much exposure to the outside world. She came into the shelter a fearful puppy with several other pups and was very overwhelmed there. She quickly was placed on the euthanasia list, due to losing weight from stress. But, a Good Samaritan signed up to adopt her. Yet was unable to provide her with the time and consistency needed to train her. He wanted a trained and housebroken dog. So he was going to return Wallaby to the shelter when the amazing volunteer staff was able to find a foster home for this sweet girl.

Wallaby has made real progress in her foster home. She is housebroken. She is crate trained. And, she is in the best sense of the word…wild. She is playful and unbridled joy. She is experiencing everything quickly. And she is such a fast learner.

Inside the house, it takes her a moment to trust but, when she does, she is loving and cuddly. She wants to be by your side, but also is happy to play by herself.

She absolutely loves dogs and wants to play with them constantly. She’s still very much a puppy. However, when receiving a correction, because she was likely never socialized, Wallaby tries to correct back, which can end up creating an unwanted situation.

Wallaby needs guidance, boundaries and socialization to overcome her fears and be her best self. She can be more fearful of men. We want to set her up for success. She has so much potential.

Because we don’t have a place for Wallaby now, we need your help to send her to month of training with Redemption Tails. Here she will work on leash training, get exposure to people, experiences and noises, and go on public outings, that until now, have made her freeze or run away.

With every shelter dog, comes a story. An unknown story that we can only build a better future from. We want to give Wallaby a real chance at a happy life. Because you’ve never met a more loving, and eager to please little girl.
