The Chayah Movement is dedicated to empowering socially conscious, historically marginalized young adults while building a community of citizen consumers who understand the power of ethical fashion choices. Through workforce development, leadership training, textile diversion, and cultural storytelling, we’re equipping young advocates to help rewrite the future of fashion — one rooted in climate justice, creativity, and community.

✨ Our 2025 Impact

This year was one of deep collaboration, creative community-building, and climate-centered activism across the Pacific Northwest. With your support, we expanded our footprint and strengthened our role as a regional leader in sustainable fashion.

Here’s what we accomplished together:

✨ Provided paid internships for emerging fashion advocates, ensuring financial barriers never prevent young people—especially youth of color—from accessing career and leadership opportunities in sustainable fashion. Almost 600 hours of AIT (Advocates-in-Training) service completed this summer, supporting sustainable fashion businesses, community events, climate education, and circularity projects. These paid internships ensured youth—especially youth of color—had equitable access to green workforce opportunities.

Our AITs helped brands like Astor & Orion, LaPaisa, KarmaRizz, and Dhivya Bala Design Studio grow their capacity and strengthen their commitment to sustainability.

✨ Hosted a PNW Climate Week events, bringing together designers, students, creative professionals, and climate advocates to explore how fashion intersects with climate justice and sustainability.

✨ Launched the Threads of Freedom Showcase & Market, a multiday cultural celebration uplifting Black designers, youth leaders, culture bearers, and the history and future of Juneteenth. This free event blended fashion, heritage, artistry, climate conversations, and community joy.

✨ Hosted the PNW Fashion Meet & Greet, uniting regional designers, stylists, brands, and sustainability leaders to strengthen creative networks and amplify the voice of PNW fashion.

✨ Partnered with Nat and her sustainable brand - LaPaisa for the “FOR_” Fashion Show, spotlighting sustainable designers, wearable art, and community-centered storytelling. This collaboration elevated a designer of color, our AIT program and expanded our reach within the regional fashion community.

✨ Supported clothing swaps and textile sustainability activations, diverting over 2,500 lbs. of textiles from landfills and engaging families in conscious consumer education.

✨ Facilitated hundreds of additional volunteer and community service hours, supporting local sustainable brands, workshops, and climate-focused events.

In 2025, we didn’t just host programs—we ignited a movement grounded in creativity, climate justice, and community empowerment.
