Add to Calendar 2024-08-14 09:00:45 2024-08-15 12:00:59 America/New_York Kids' Art Adventure Designed for young artists, this workshop runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on August 14th and 15th, and is packed with a variety of engaging activities: Day 1 (August 14th): Sock Creature Creation: Unleash your imagination as we transform ordinary socks into whimsical and unique sock creatures. Gelli Printing: Discover the fascinating world of printmaking with Gelli plates. Experiment with colors, textures, and patterns to create stunning prints that are one-of-a-kind. Day 2 (August 15th): Collage: Dive into the art of collage by combining different materials and images to create beautiful, layered artworks. Painting: Embrace the joy of painting with a variety of techniques, explore different styles, and express yourself on canvas. Each day, kids will have the opportunity to develop new skills, make new friends, and take home their fantastic creations. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE! Scholarships cover the cost of the session. Apply for the scholarship by emailing Education Coordinator, Saebren Stevens at [email protected] LOCATION Camp is held at Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center 300 S. Washington Sq. Suite 100 Lansing, MI 48933 DROP-OFF & PICK-UP Campers may enter the gallery at our Main Entrance located on Washtenaw. The elevator may be accessed through the Main Lobby Entrance on Washtenaw. We will be holding the day camp on our Mezzanine Level. Drop-off: 8:45 - 9:00 AM Pick-up: 12:00 PM Parents or guardians must sign children in when they arrive and must sign them out before leaving with them. If your child will be picked up early, please let the Education Coordinator know at drop off to ensure your camper is ready to go when you arrive. WHAT TO WEAR, BRING, & LEAVE BEHIND Please wear comfortable clothing that can get messy! A water bottle and snack should come to camp with your child daily. Note: Please, do not bring snacks that contain peanuts, peanut flour, peanut oil, or peanut butter or other nuts. Items of value, such as cell phones, video games, music players, and toys are not needed at camp and should be left safely at home. If your child must bring a phone, it can be kept safely with the Education Coordinator or turned off in their pocket or bag. PARKING There is metered parking around the gallery. The meters accept coins and you will need to know your license plate number. There are also several ramps within walking distance. ABSENCES If your child is unable to attend for any reason during the camp week or will be significantly late, please contact the gallery at 517-574-4521 ACCOMMODATIONS Please let us know if we should be aware of any accommodation needed on the emergency form that will be filled out on the first day of camp. Teachers modify projects to fit your child’s needs to the best of their ability. ALLERGIES & MEDICATIONS Please inform us of any allergies, food or otherwise, that your child may have so we can make arrangements to suit their needs. Medications must be left with the Education Coordinator upon drop off each day. Please inform the Education Coordinator of the correct dosage and time the medication must be taken, along with any other special instructions. EMERGENCIES In the event of an emergency, the gallery will call 9-1-1. Parents or guardians will be called immediately thereafter. If the parents cannot be reached, emergency contacts will be called. Lansing Art Gallery is not financially liable for injuries that may occur while at camp. LOST & FOUND Please clearly print your camper’s name on their personal belongings. If items are left behind and can be identified, we will contact you. Found items and left camper artwork will be kept in the office for 1 month after the conclusion of your week of camp. After this time, items will be donated to a local charity. Contact [email protected] with lost and found concerns. Lansing Art Gallery is not responsible for lost or stolen items. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS We expect all campers to behave in a way that is safe, respectful, and responsible at all times. Any extreme or unsafe behavior will result in parent contact and potential dismissal from camp. The camper’s ability to return to camp will be determined at the discretion of the gallery administration. Campers dismissed for bullying, inappropriate, or unsafe behavior will not be issued a refund. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Do you offer scholarships for campers? A: A limited number of scholarships are available to families in need. To apply for a scholarship, please contact our Education Coordinator, Saebren Stevens at [email protected] Q: Can my child attend camp if they are not within the listed age group? A: Campers must be at least 7 years of age when camp begins and not older than 12 years of age at the start of the camp. Camps are intended to meet the needs of the listed age group. Q: My child has an appointment during camp. Can we leave and come back? A: Yes. Please make sure to communicate this with the staff ahead of time. Be sure to sign them out and check them back in when you return as you would normally do. Q: What’s your policy on refunds? A: A full refund may be made 2 weeks prior to the start date of the camp you have registered for. After that time, refunds cannot be issued.
